Walker’s Woodshop

Art CampsGrades 4-7

Walker’s Woodshop

If your child looks at a 2-by-4 and can see a bench, then it’s time to roll up their sleeves and join us in the shop. Our introduction to woodworking teaches your child the fundamentals of good design and encourages personal expression. Situated in our fully equipped woodshop within the Visual & Performing Arts Center, each camper will choose, plan and build a unique piece of small furniture. Guided by two experienced instructors, your child will develop skills in design, measurement, construction, and finishing techniques. Beginning woodworkers will learn how to safely handle a variety of tools, receive 1-on-1 attention and, at the end of the week, walk away with a finely-crafted piece of furniture and the confidence that comes from knowing it was created with their own two hands.
