Food + Nutrition

Morning snacks and daily lunches are included in your child’s Beaver experience. We’re talking all the healthy, well-balanced favorites they love including chicken tenders, turkey tacos, hummus and carrots, fresh fruit, tossed salad, and our weekly Friday BBQs. Or, they can choose daily from a variety of deli sandwiches and bagels.

Lunch is served in our dining room for PreK Lower and Middle Campers and outside at picnic tables on the terrace for K Lower Campers, Upper, Senior, and Specialty Campers. Our Group Counselors serve the meals and dine with campers, providing a relaxed, fun setting where the conversation and laughter flow freely.

FOOD ALLERGIES

Many of our campers navigate food allergies, and we take that very seriously.

In collaboration with our families, we take the following precautions to keep snack and mealtimes safe for our community:

  • Beaver is NUT-SAFE. There are no peanuts or tree nuts served and there are no hidden nut products found in our foods, with the exception of our vegan cheese product which contains coconut oil.
  • Families are able to provide food from home for any camper with a documented dietary restriction or allergy. While we make every effort to ensure that our meals comply with the dietary needs of our community, we welcome families who choose to bring their own food as their safest option. All food from home must conform to our no nut policy, outlined above. Additionally, families must communicate with the Camp Office in advance of providing food from home to ensure we are meeting our allergen-safety protocols.
  • Beaver Summer Camp does not maintain a kosher certified kitchen, but we do have kosher diet friendly items. We encourage you to reach out to the Camp Office with any questions.
  • We ask all parents to refrain from sending any food from home to camp for special events such as birthdays. While we know it is well-intentioned, it creates an unnecessary risk for our campers with food allergies.
  • We exclude all pre-packaged snacks that are “produced in a facility that process peanuts and tree nuts,” according to their ingredient labels.
  • We offer gluten-free lunch and snack alternatives each day.
  • Our food service staff is trained and certified in ServSafe and allergy management in the kitchen.
  • Our camp staff receives extensive food allergy training and closely supervises all meals with their campers.
  • We maintain a central listing of all foods served by the camp and their detailed ingredient lists both in the Camp Office and on our registration site for parents to look through before camp.
